For nearly 100 years, the American Heart Association has been fighting heart disease and stroke and helping families and communities thrive. Before the American Heart Association existed, people with heart disease were thought to be doomed to complete bed rest. Since the early 1900s, the AHA has made leaps and bounds in their efforts to see a world free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. For nearly 100 years, the AHA has funded cardiovascular medical research, educated consumers on healthy living and fostered appropriate cardiac care.
